I have had high cholesterol for several years, which is genetic. I eat right and exercise regularly, but I still have high cholesterol. I also have high blood pressure, which is also genetic. I started taking krill oil (1 gram per day or 1000mg) because I had heard good things about it and thought it was a better alternative to fish oil - fish oil always gave me bad indigestion and belching. After 3 months...

Just a warning that I replaced my statins with krill oil and 6 months later at the medical exam my cholesterol had skyrocketed and I was back on statins

I replaced my fish oil with krill oil. It does cause bloating, but the main thing that bothered me was the sickening smell of rotten fish. I tried a whole bottle and tried to take the second but the choking was hard to take. I wrote Native Path about it and they replied that the smell was normal. I wonder why this isn't mentioned in the ads for krill oil? I have never read about this "side effect". I throw away the unused bottles as it's just not worth the reaction I'm havingoh the smell. expensive lesson.Continue readingread less

My partner and I were just on a health kick. He heard that krill oil is good for you and since I have heart problems it would benefit me more. The problem is that I also have gastrointestinal issues, aka irritable bowel syndrome/diverticulitis. I found that the krill oil gave me cramps, pain and diarrhea. So far he hasn't had any problems.

I started taking krill oil for dry eyes. After just taking the NOW brand 500mg/day for a month, I no longer have any dry eye issues (or only minimal issues). It made a big difference for me. Before taking it I used to put drops in my eyes two to three times a day and from time to time I would have a burning pain in my eyes and it almost always felt like I had particles of something in my eyes . Anyone with dry eyes will know what I mean. Once you take krill oil, that's all over!

I've only been taking krill oil for a month. I'm gradually starting to feel bloating, bloating and acid reflux which is so bad I get the horrible burning sensation in my throat and taste in my mouth. I've never had constant heartburn like this. I'll stop the krill oil to see if I'm better. I need to find another way to control my cholesterol levels.

I wrote a review and forgot to say this about my wife. For three months I had been taking a high dose of krill oil morning and night. My wife's blood pressure was 107/80, pulse 60! I laughed with happiness that it was so low. Real krill oil is truly a gift from God. No drug prescribed by doctors could deliver this value without side effects. Yes, I am a believer. My wife has a serious heart condition. 95 percent blockage of multiple arteries. Due to decades of untreated diabetes, she is inoperable. Unfortunately, eight years ago, she suffered a stroke and heart attack that completely devastated her. Then her stomach stopped digesting water because we used the sweetener sucralose (Spenda) in all her drinks. Then her HMO treated her dehydration by adulterating her heart meds, blinding her by making her cataract eighty percent worse in three weeks and giving her a cataractDose of Reglan that blew her brain to pieces. Luckily, I found the sucralose problem when we stopped using it — it still took her stomach two months to heal to hold clear water and we had to wait five months for cataract surgery. This cataract operation saved her life. Still, most of the heart and blood medications she gave her actually affected her brain. All of this happened in the last four years. We had some krill oil in the fridge and she was really sick so I said let's try that. The krill oil is just a miracle. Your brain comes back to life. Her wounds on the front of her legs are getting much smaller. She still suffers a lot, but the trend is in a positive direction. She takes a very large dose. Three 800 mg in the morning and three 800 mg in the evening. There are no stomach upsets and the krill oil is far more effective than fish oil. She takes Lasix for water retention, krill oil which saves her life and quality of life, as well as magnesium picolenate, zinc picolinate, B vitamin supplements and cranberry pills (vitamin C) to fight UTIs. We are in battle now. She also maintains her diabetes and needs the right vaccinations as well. Buy a good quality krill oil and make sure it is krill oil. Thins the blood, although not sufficiently. I don't see any effects on arthritis, cholesterol or blood pressure. No stomach problems or allergies.

Taking Kirkland Krill 300mg once a day for a month started great, not a bad wait. The second 30 days have only just begun. I have fatty liver with high cholesterol, my gut is lighter and more frequent than expected. I had some stabbing pains in my eyes, even with dry eye medication, which wasn't that bad today. I went to the ophthalmologist. Good news I have RA and fiber. It has improved, I don't need tramadol for two nights. I'm staying here until my lab tests come in, maybe it's the brand or the dosage

I've been taking it for a few months, but over the last month I've noticed that fluid has been collecting in my ears, mostly in the left ear, and fluid was trapped in the middle ear. I went to the clinic and was given antibiotics, allergy meds and Mucinex. The symptoms subsided for a few days and then returned after these doses. Stopped taking Mega Red 3 Krill Oil a few days ago, no more fluid in my ears and can hear again. It's very scary to know that you can't get rid of something in your ears.

I am 71 and do not take any other medication. I had problems with high cholesterol and high blood pressure. After reading here and elsewhere that it might help with my blood pressure (I was 161/90) I tried 500mg a day for a month. My blood pressure is now between 130 and 139 over 80. I have upped the dose to 1000mg per day but haven't seen any further improvement after 3 weeks so far.

According to reports, krill oil has a better effect on bad cholesterol than fish oil. I take Schiff's Mega-Red 500mg X-Strength Omega-3 Formula with Astaxanthin and DHA. My cholesterol levels are now one point above the normal range. I'm also on prescription Zetia, 10 mg, and no more statins. Finally, luckily, the krill oil doesn't give me a fishy taste all day long; ughhh!

I wasn't aware that I was only supposed to take my krill for 3 months. I took it for 5 months which resulted in quite a lot of blood thinning and my bones were thinning faster from the osteoarthritis. Hopefully since I stopped taking it it will rejuvenate my bones. Just before I stopped I noticed my hands were sore as if they had been crushed.

Took 300 mg of krill oil because I couldn't tolerate statins. Cholesterol is good, but stomach problems persist. Belching, gas, loose stools, heartburn. I didn't know it was the krill oil until I was told to stop using it two weeks before a colonoscopy and all symptoms went away. I will try to use fish oil again.
