My "hair loss" is voluntary; I like to grow my hair long and then donate it to charities that use it to make wigs for cancer patients. I've been using biotin for about three months now and the results are amazing! Fuller, longer, stronger hair that grows back faster than I've ever experienced. I would recommend it to anyone who wants better hair growth.

Although I didn't take it for long, I didn't see any benefit from this drug for just a few weeks. I took 2000 mg daily. This was called Biotin by Spring Valley and was purchased from Walmart. I stopped when I suddenly got severe leg and hip pain. The pain got worse day by day. It took me several days to realize it was the biotin and the pain subsided significantly once I stopped taking this junk and...

I took Nature Made® Hair, Skin, and Nails 2,500 mcg gummy bears for over a month. Given my eczema and dermatitis, I believed it would be beneficial. Then one day I felt like I was having a heart attack! Lots of palpitations and nervousness/anxiety. Previously, I've had indigestion and back pain recently and I've found it's becoming harder and harder to swallow lately, like something is choking me. I had a headache and an itchy scalp. symptoms hMy health has improved since I stopped taking biotin. I feel better and none of these side effects are present. I wonder why there aren't more popular online articles detailing other side effects of biotin. I had to do a little more research to find other people who had the same issues as me while taking biotin. Before taking biotin, especially in larger doses, do your homework and evaluate your options.Continue readingread less

My hairline was starting to recede, there were bald spots and my hair volume had decreased tremendously. Probably due to menopause. I've been taking Biotin (5000 mcg p/d) for 5 months now and the results are remarkable. First I noticed fuller eyelashes and longer nails, now my hair volume seems to have returned to normal and the bald spots have become smaller. Too bad I can't upload before and after photos. So far no side effects, hopefully none either. Very happy; It has worked wonders for my childTrust.Continue readingread less

Soon after taking 5,000 mcg of chewable biotin per day, my nails grew noticeably thicker and stronger. I've taken skin/hair/nail vitamins in the past with the same effect, but chose biotin alone as it was a lot cheaper.

I've been using these tablets for six months as my hair is thinning due to the dreaded menopause. As another customer said, my eyelashes are much longer and the eyebrows are growing, but there is nothing on my head yet, no new growth, absolutely nothing. I get it trimmed every 4/5 weeks as it's less noticeable with shorter layers and even my usual barber said there was no new growth. I will leave it on for another six months and if no new growth appears I will stop taking it.

I didn't really need the extra biotin but took it anyway just because my mom takes it. I took 5,000mcg once a day for about 7-10 days and noticed strange effects e.g. B. Skin rash, amphetamine-like energy/chattiness, decreased back pain, decreased need for opioids, and severe insomnia. It's a bit mixed, but be careful that biotin supplements can do bizarre and horrific things.

I used to have very thin nails that would buckle when I pressed against them. They would break, tear off and detach in layers. I would say biotin has helped over the past few years. My nails are now hard and growing much longer than they used to.

People should always consult a doctor first. After just one dose I felt like I was having a heart attack. Twice. I've never had heart problems. The side effects also lasted much longer than expected. The scariest day of my life. Now I'm skeptical about any vitamin. You should be too.

I started taking biotin two to three years ago after noticing my frontal hair was thinning. My hairline has always been high, but with thinning it also seemed to recede slowly. Since hair loss is a big problem in my family and my two older brothers are also slowly losing their hair, I started to do a little research. I decided against taking prescription drugs and after browsing and reading I decided on a supplement to try: biotin. I started taking 5000mcg BioCan daily and within a week saw results. My hair started to get thicker and fill out nicely. I was even amazed at all those little baby hairs sprouting up along my hairline and bangs. I literally grew a new hairline backwards. All this new hair started sprouting along my hairline and my bangs were thicker which blew me away. My nails grew like weeds and were MUCH thicker. Also, I noticed that my skin was changing for the better. The dry patches on my face were gone and my skin even got a glowing complexion. I was more than satisfied with this product. PS I have tried biotin tablets, powder capsules and gel caps and have found that the tablets and powder capsules work best. I bought the tiny gel cap form last time and even at 10,000mcg per day they don't work half as well as the other types. IME onlyContinue readingread less

For a 71-year-old woman, I'm pretty healthy. I take some supplements for pain and other problems of old age. I've been taking Levoxyl for hypothyroidism for 33 years and have my thyroid tested every year at my annual lab exams. Due to my pain, I took a B-complex (OTC) pill for several years on the recommendation of my doctor. I recently started taking a collagen pill (OTC) to prevent wrinkles. I had my labs taken three months ago, my Levoxyl was elevated and was told to get itI checked it again in three months, which is what I did. I got a call from my doctor telling me my thyroid was still off. Do you take biotin? So I checked. My B complex pill contains 1000% more biotin than needed. So I told this to the doctor and she said to stop the biotin therapy and have the thyroid checked again in two weeks. After we hung up, I checked all of my supplements and found that the collagen pill also contained biotin, 10,000% more than needed. So I stopped both. I didn't take it for "brittle nails", I just had to choose one of the listed ailments. I only took it because it was in other pills.Continue readingread less
